Could the Dallas Cowboys contemplate dealing All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons? This query resonates across the NFL landscape as Week 1 approaches.
Parsons reportedly expressed interest in a change of scenery earlier in the month. The standout player, selected 12th overall from Penn State, has been a force for “America’s Team” since his arrival in 2021, amassing 256 tackles, 112 quarterback pressures, 52.5 sacks, and nine forced fumbles. What motivates this desire for a move? Speculation suggests he’s weary of the dynamics with Jerry Jones and the team’s management.
Jones, however, offered a rebuttal to Parsons’ camp during a recent discussion with Cowboys icon Michael Irvin. He not only voiced readiness to position Parsons as “the highest-compensated non-quarterback with guaranteed earnings in the NFL,” but also directed a remark towards the Pro Bowl player’s representative, David Mulugheta.
“We had reached a consensus on contract duration, value, guarantees, the works. We were poised to forward it to the agent,” Jones conveyed to Irvin. “The agent’s response was, ‘No need, we intend to handle all negotiations.’ But from my perspective, the negotiation was effectively done. I had already made concessions in several areas. The core issue is that I believed we had concluded negotiations. Now, the agent is attempting to insert himself into the process and seek gains beyond what we had already agreed upon.”
Parsons has yet to publicly address Jones’ comments. However, he’s currently trending on social media platforms due to an intriguing piece of speculation.

NFC team showing interest in Parsons?
According to a prominent social media personality known as “Rickey Scoops,” the Cowboys have reportedly been presented with a trade proposition from the Green Bay Packers. This proposal supposedly involves a contract for Parsons valued at $45 million annually.
Approximately two weeks prior, the same “insider” reported that the Packers were formulating a substantial offer for Parsons.
To date, no reputable media outlets have confirmed active trade discussions between the Cowboys and Packers concerning Parsons.
What would be needed to acquire Parsons?
Earlier in the month, ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicated that a potential trade package for Parsons would mirror the one the Chicago Bears used to acquire Khalil Mack from the Las Vegas Raiders in 2018. While it may seem excessive, Chicago parted with two first-round selections, a third-round selection, and a sixth-round selection to secure Mack, along with a second-round selection and a conditional fifth-round selection for Las Vegas.
If the Packers are determined to acquire Parsons, they must be willing to relinquish at least two first-round picks.
Ultimately, it’s improbable that the Cowboys will part ways with Parsons. At least for the current season.
