Despite incurring his fourth consecutive defeat at UFC Seattle, Dana White maintains that “The Last Stylebender,” Israel Adesanya, still possesses the capability to compete.
Adesanya initially performed well during the first round, skillfully maintaining his preferred distance; however, the moment Pyfer bridged that gap, the match began to turn. Adesanya opted to exchange blows with Pyfer, which resulted in him receiving numerous strikes while standing.
The second period saw Pyfer execute a takedown, subsequently delivering a series of ground strikes to secure a TKO victory. At the post-fight press conference following UFC Seattle, White refrained from minimizing Adesanya’s performance, according to MMAJunkie.
“He looked good. He looked good,” White said. “He looked fast, using angles. Yeah, I thought he looked great.”
Following his loss within Climate Pledge Arena, Adesanya communicated to Daniel Cormier his firm resolve to remain active in professional combat sports. “The Last Stylebender” declared that he would not yield and intends to persist in competition.
Regarding Pyfer, White is convinced that “Bodybagz” significantly elevated his professional standing by achieving an extension of his winning streak to four contests.
“We started looking at all the performances tonight, for Pyfer to come in at No. 14, and beat Israel Adesanya, one of the best middleweights ever, and the No. 4-ranked guy,” White said at the UFC Fight Night 271 post-fight press conference. “It’s pretty impressive – and to finish him.”
Pyfer is projected to make a substantial ascent in the official UFC middleweight rankings, and White indicated that this achievement creates fresh prospects for the 29-year-old athlete.
“It’s huge,” White said. “And more importantly, you know, Joe Pyfer’s story, and now the guy’s ranked in the top five in the UFC, which is very, very tough to do.”
