Dhanashree Verma Responds to Yuzvendra Chahal’s Marriage Claim.

The publicized aspects of well-known figures’ lives often include their personal relationships, and the dissolution of the marriage between Indian cricket player Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-spinner, and Dhanashree Verma, a dancer and choreographer, has been no exception. Their formal separation took place on March 20, 2025, following a period of separation that lasted 18 months, after they had been married for almost three years.

The couple’s divorce, which was legally finalized by the Mumbai family court, reportedly included a financial agreement where Chahal provided INR 4.75 crore as part of the settlement. Nearly a month prior, Chahal gained attention when he described their marriage as ‘fake’ during a discussion with entrepreneur Raj Shamani. Dhanashree has now provided her perspective in a collected but resolute manner while in conversation with Humans of Bombay.

When addressing the remarks made by her former husband, Dhanashree emphasized how important it is to maintain privacy in personal affairs. She implied, without mentioning Chahal by name, that remaining silent should not be interpreted as a sign of vulnerability.

We refer to it as ‘personal life’ for a valid reason. It needs to be confidential. Just because I am not speaking does not give anyone the liberty to exploit the situation. That is not appropriate. This should not occur to anyone,” Dhanashree expressed during the interview.

She also used a significant expression -“Taali ek haath se to bajti nahi” (it takes two to tango), implying that every relationship involves perspectives from both individuals involved. She has avoided making any direct accusations; however, her comments delicately suggested that she is remaining silent out of respect rather than powerlessness.

Career focus instead of disagreement

Despite the intense public interest surrounding the highly publicized separation within cricket, Dhanashree reiterated that her primary focus is still on her professional endeavors. She mentioned that she has her version of events but has chosen not to discuss them at this moment.

If you are striving for significant achievements, repeatedly addressing it is unnecessary. I have my perspective on what happened. Do I intend to discuss it presently? No. Might I want to sometime in the future? Possibly,” Dhanashree concluded.

Since their wedding in December 2020, reports of difficulties started to circulate around mid-2022, ultimately resulting in an official separation. By February 2025, the pair had jointly submitted a divorce application, requesting the Bombay High Court to waive the mandatory six-month waiting period. The High Court agreed, thereby expediting the procedure through the family court.

While their separation continues to attract attention, Dhanashree’s composed and thoughtful response indicates her aim to move forward, focusing on personal development and resolution rather than prolonging the public disagreement. By prioritizing her career in dance, choreography, and the creation of online content over engaging in disputes, she has communicated her resolve to forge her unique and independent identity within the entertainment industry.
