Djokovic to Challenge Sinner-Alcaraz Dominance?

Both Sinner, aged 24, and Alcaraz, aged 22, have dominated the recent Grand Slam tournaments, claiming victories in the last seven competitions. No other player has secured a major title since Djokovic’s triumph at the US Open in 2023.

As they enter the final major tournament of the year, few anticipated that Djokovic – or any other player – could disrupt the expected continued success of Sinner and Alcaraz.

However, Djokovic, seeded seventh, and Felix Auger-Aliassime from Canada, who is participating in his second Grand Slam semi-final, stand as the remaining contenders capable of challenging their dominance.

While Djokovic still possesses exceptional skill, experience, and a strong desire for victory, his advancing age has begun to affect his physical stamina.

Physical challenges have been evident during the New York tournament, yet he consistently finds a way to achieve victory.

“I can assure you, it won’t become any less demanding,” Djokovic commented following his quarter-final victory against Taylor Fritz on Tuesday.

“The upcoming days are critical for me to prepare my body and ensure it’s ready for potential five-set battles.”
