Draper & Raducanu: GB United Cup Team

The leading British tennis players, Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu, might form a mixed doubles partnership following their agreement to participate in the upcoming United Cup in Australia.

Great Britain, along with Poland and Australia, have been announced as the initial participants in the mixed-team tournament, scheduled to take place in Perth and Sydney from January 2 to 11, in the week preceding the Australian Open.

Draper withdrew from the 2025 edition due to an injury before Britain’s quarter-final exit, whereas 2026 will mark Raducanu’s inaugural appearance in the United Cup.

United Cup director Stephen Farrow stated, “The debut of British [number ones] Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu as a team will undoubtedly enhance the tournament’s appeal.”

A total of eighteen teams, each consisting of up to three male and three female players, will be divided into six groups of three, with teams competing against each other in a round robin format within their respective groups.

Each match will feature one men’s singles and one women’s singles contest involving the top-ranked singles players, along with one mixed doubles match.

Draper and Raducanu could potentially team up in the doubles event, although it is anticipated that team organizers will opt for two doubles specialists for the squad.

Ranking points will be up for grabs, potentially proving crucial as Raducanu, currently ranked number 29 in the world, aims to secure a spot as one of the 32 seeded players for the Australian Open.

Raducanu expressed, “I feel privileged to be making my first United Cup appearance in January.”

“Having the chance to represent Team GB alongside my teammates is a special opportunity and a week to relish.

“It’s fantastic to experience a different format on the tour, represent my nation, and spend some extra time in Australia.”

Poland has confirmed the participation of Iga Swiatek, the world number two, and Hubert Hurkacz, while Alex de Minaur, ranked sixth globally, and Maya Joint will represent Australia.
