Britain’s top-ranked player, Jack Draper, made a successful comeback to the ATP Tour after an injury layoff, defeating France’s Quentin Halys in two sets during his match in Dubai.
This marked his initial appearance on the professional men’s circuit since the US Open in August, and Draper secured a 7-6 (10-8) 6-3 victory in his inaugural match at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
The athlete, aged 24, whose global standing has fallen to 15th from a peak of fourth in June, is scheduled to face either Fabian Marozsan from Hungary or Arthur Rinderknech from France in his subsequent match.
Draper’s initial competitive outing in 164 days took place during the Davis Cup Qualifiers earlier this February, where he defeated Viktor Durasovic of Norway without dropping a set.
However, he had not participated in singles tournaments at the tour level since pulling out of the US Open prior to his second-round encounter due to an injury in his left arm half a year ago.
Draper secured the esteemed Masters 1,000 championship at Indian Wells and advanced to the fourth round at both the Australian and French Opens, marking a strong beginning to his 2025 season.
Nevertheless, he started encountering difficulties with a bone bruise in his serving arm throughout the clay-court segment in April, and this problem steadily intensified.
