Alicia Dudeney spearheaded a stellar outing for the British contingent on the third day of the Lexus Wrexham Open, securing her place alongside Jodie Burrage and Hannah Klugman in Friday’s quarter-final lineup.
Continuing her strong momentum, Dudeney pushed her victory streak to seven encounters at the World Tennis Tour W100 tournament hosted by the Wrexham Tennis and Padel Centre, battling past seventh-seeded Swiss opponent Susan Bandecchi 6-3 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 in a grueling clash that spanned two hours and 51 minutes.
Her next opponent in the quarter-finals will be Elsa Jacquemot of France.
Following Dudeney onto the Carden Park Arena court, 17-year-old Klugman delivered yet another outstanding display, overcoming higher-ranked Czech competitor Anna Siskova with a straight-sets victory of 6-2 6-4.
Klugman, a runner-up in last year’s French Open junior girls’ competition and world-ranked 341, is set to contend against sixth seed Rebecca Sramkova from Slovakia.
