Ecuador’s World Cup 2026 Squad: Beccacece’s Selection

The Ecuador international competition team for the year 2026 is anticipated to be a noteworthy contender in the upcoming North American event next summer.

The South American group secured their place in their second successive competition, marking the second instance in their history of qualifying for two consecutive international competitions.

Ecuador experienced only two defeats during the international competition qualification phase, losing to Argentina and Brazil on their respective home grounds, which could arguably be considered understandable. They achieved eight victories, with only one of these wins involving a goal difference greater than one, specifically a 4-0 triumph over Bolivia. They recorded eight draws, all of which concluded with a 0-0 scoreline.

Throughout the 18 matches, they managed to score only 14 goals, but limiting their opponents to just five goals allowed them to accumulate a significant 29 points: this equates to over two points per goal.

Their manager, Sebastian Beccacece, has instilled a remarkable resilience within the team, suggesting they possess a strong likelihood of pushing formidable opponents to penalty shootouts in North America the following year.

When this is combined with a selection of outstanding players, they could be a team worth paying attention to…

Who is Ecuador’s manager?

Sebastian Beccacece, did not participate as a professional player, and instead worked alongside Jorge Sampaoli as his assistant until 2016, at which point he accepted his inaugural managerial position with Universidad de Chile.

Since then, he has served three terms with Defensa y Justicia, worked as Argentina’s assistant manager, and led Independiente, Racing Club, and Elche. He assumed the role of Ecuador’s manager on August 1, 2024.

His performance since assuming his position has been noteworthy, guiding the team to a second-place result in CONMEBOL’s qualification process, finishing only behind Argentina.

Moises Caicedo holds the distinction of being the fourth-most expensive player in the Premier League’s history, and justifiably so.

Throughout the current season, he has emerged as one of the most remarkable players in the European region, consistently delivering outstanding performances for Chelsea, with his dynamic displays in the midfield drawing considerable attention.

If Ecuador is to achieve success in the upcoming summer event, a robust defense will be essential, and having a player of Caicedo’s caliber positioned in front of it will undoubtedly provide a significant advantage.
