Equibase Rankings: Top Veterans & Emerging Talent

The period following the Breeders’ Cup might be settling down, but recent days still featured significant stakes competitions throughout North America. Graded stakes events at Aqueduct and Churchill Downs showcased remarkable performances, resulting in adjustments on the Equibase chart tracking earnings in North American races for the 2025 season.

Way back in January of the current year, Disco Time accumulated 20 points toward the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve when staging a late surge in the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes at Fair Grounds. However, the Not This Time offspring experienced a setback that prevented participation in the Derby. Roughly eight months later, Disco Time made a return to racing in September, dominating the St. Louis Derby at Fairmount Park with a 5 ½ length victory in the first start after a considerable break. After a short rest, Disco Time returned to impressively win Saturday’s Dwyer Stakes at Aqueduct by 9 ¾ lengths for trainer Brad Cox. The Juddmonte homebred has a perfect record of 5 wins in 5 starts, and with a third win this year in the Dwyer, Disco Time surged up the Equibase standings, now ranked 39th in the 3-year-old male category with $410,000 in earnings. Disco Time earned a career-best 112 Equibase Speed Figure for the Dwyer victory.

The Grade 2 Mother Goose Stakes at Aqueduct was the main event of the weekend, drawing a competitive field of 3-year-old fillies, including Longines Kentucky Oaks runner-up Drexel Hill. But Fully Subscribed delivered a dominant performance, pulling away to win by 4 ½ lengths under jockey Dylan Davis. Fully Subscribed secured a first win of the season after earlier second and third-place finishes in allowance races, and the performance propelled the filly into the top 100 in the division – now ranked 79th among 3-year-old fillies with $195,800 earned in 2025.

In Kentucky, the Grade 3 River City Stakes at Churchill Downs was a weekend highlight. Wolfie’s Dynaghost, a 7-year-old gelding sired by Ghostzapper, continues a strong racing career, finding the winner’s circle once again. The Woodslane Farm homebred recorded a career-best 114 Equibase Speed Figure on Saturday, winning the River City by 2 ¾ lengths. The gelding completed 1 1/8 miles on turf in 1:45.58, only 0.07 seconds off the track record, trained by Brian Lynch and ridden by Luis Saez. Wolfie’s Dynaghost currently holds the 70th position in the older male division, with $337,458 in earnings.

There were no changes in the top 10 jockeys in North America, with Flavien Prat remaining in the lead with $36,252,539 in earnings. Prat secured 10 wins last week (37%), all at Aqueduct, accumulating $568,510 in earnings. Jose Ortiz led all jockeys by earnings last week with $761,783 and tied Prat for most wins with 10.

Similarly, there were no changes within the top 10 trainers. Brad Cox led all North American trainers last week in both wins (eight) and earnings ($538,008), maintaining a leading position in the standings. Cox is well ahead with $26,731,407 earned in 2025, nearly $4.2 million more than Chad Brown, who is currently in second place.
