A first-year linebacker for Florida State, Ethan Pritchard, remains in a serious but steady state in the intensive care unit following a gunshot incident Sunday evening in Havana, Florida. He was in Havana visiting relatives, about 17 miles from Tallahassee, and is currently receiving care at a nearby medical facility.
“The Pritchard family expresses gratitude for the widespread support received and the diligence of first responders and healthcare personnel. They kindly request privacy during this period. Further information will be shared when appropriate,” stated a release from Florida State on Monday.
Pritchard was injured by gunfire while inside a car near an apartment complex in Havana shortly before 10 p.m., as reported by the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office through the Associated Press. The investigation into the incident is currently active.

According to Tallahassee’s WCTV, a representative from the sheriff’s office informed the press that Pritchard was discovered injured within a vehicle.
“Upon arrival, officers successfully extracted him from the vehicle. EMS personnel then arrived and transported him to a local hospital,” stated Captain Anglie Holmes.
The freshman linebacker, measuring 6-foot-2 and weighing 224 pounds, joined Florida State with the 2023 recruiting class from Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. During recruitment, he garnered attention from institutions like Miami, UCF, and Florida. Pritchard did not participate in the Seminoles’ season-opening victory over Alabama, with a final score of 31-14.
