The manager of Leeds United, Daniel Farke, is still under scrutiny at Elland Road following an incident where a supporter attempted to approach him on the sidelines.
Farke witnessed the Whites succumb to their fifth loss in the last six matches, as Morgan Rogers’ two goals negated Lukas Nmecha’s initial goal, securing all three points for Aston Villa in West Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon.
Daniel Farke suggests supporters should think about Brenden Aaronson’s ‘well-being’
According to MailSport, a disgruntled spectator made an attempt to communicate with Farke during the Villa match over the weekend, but was stopped by security personnel.
Concerns are mounting regarding the German manager’s ability to ensure the Whites remain in the Premier League this season, and his statements after the game have exacerbated the situation with certain sections of the fanbase.
“Because of the regard I have for Dan James and Willy Gnonto, I am constantly considering them,” stated the former Norwich manager, in response to a question about why he did not include the pair in the starting lineup.
“If I opt to use one of them, I would have to exclude either [Noah] Okafor or [Brenden] Aaronson. Okafor, from an attacking perspective, takes on defenders and finds the net. From a defensive standpoint, [he] needs improvement. I wasn’t inclined to play Willy today. On the other hand, Brenden is a player who creates contrasting opinions. [He] can be a source of frustration for me, given his lack of straightforwardness and his frantic style.
“However, I must mention that when we are critical of this individual, we should remember the importance of mental well-being. If everyone is against him, despite his hard work and dedication, it is unfair to focus solely on his performances.
“He consistently covers 13,000 meters per game. The reason our right side is so defensively sound is largely due to his contribution, along with [Jayden] Bogle. In the previous home match, he was named man of the match and received a standing ovation afterward.
There’s also internal strain, as FourFourTwo has learned that not all investors within the 49ers Enterprises group were assured of Farke’s capabilities for the Premier League, leading to discussions about potentially replacing him during the off-season.
Ultimately, Leeds and their ownership decided to continue with the 49-year-old, but the duration of his tenure remains uncertain. The team’s form and upcoming matches are causing anxiety among the fans, with games against Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Brentford scheduled next.
