Federer Joins Hall of Fame.

The initial member from the celebrated ‘Big Three’ in tennis, Roger Federer, is set to be honored with induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Federer, now 44, concluded his competitive career in 2022, boasting an impressive record of 103 ATP-level titles, a feat surpassed only by Jimmy Connors (109) in the Open era.

The exceptional Swiss player was the pioneer in achieving 20 Grand Slam singles titles—a milestone subsequently exceeded by his ‘Big Three’ contemporaries, Novak Djokovic (24) and Rafael Nadal (22).

Federer, distinguished as one of only eight players to complete a career Grand Slam, received the announcement at Swiss Tennis, the very place where he honed his skills in his youth. He was greeted by a number of the existing 270 Hall of Fame members via a video conference.

“It’s a great privilege to gain entry into the International Tennis Hall of Fame and to be counted alongside so many of the sport’s legendary figures,” Federer expressed.

“Throughout my playing days, I have consistently held the history of tennis in high regard, acknowledging the standard established by those who preceded me.

“To have this recognition bestowed upon me by the tennis realm and by my fellow players is profoundly touching. I eagerly await the visit to Newport next August to commemorate this significant occasion with the global tennis fraternity.”

Federer’s induction is scheduled for the weekend of August 27-29 of the coming year, with ceremonies taking place in Newport, Rhode Island, within the United States.

Notable among his 20 major victories, Federer clinched a record-breaking eight men’s singles titles at Wimbledon.

He maintained the top spot in the world rankings for an aggregate of 310 weeks, which includes an unprecedented streak of 237 consecutive weeks.

Commentator and journalist Mary Carillo has also been chosen for induction in the Contributor Category.

Fred Perry and Virginia Wade stand among the celebrated British personalities already enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
