Frank Comments on Tottenham’s Spence & Van de Ven Dispute

The Lilywhites experienced a setback over the weekend, succumbing to defeat against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side, losing on their own patch to their capital city counterparts by a single goal.

Joao Pedro’s goal in the first 45 minutes separated the two teams at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Bees endured a second defeat within a week.

The encounter with Chelsea in North London presented an opportunity for Spurs to rediscover winning form against a neighbouring team, yet events unfolded differently as the Blues departed for the west of the capital with maximum points.

When the final whistle was blown, footage emerged showing defenders Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence visibly frustrated by the game’s result as they made their way towards manager Frank.

The Tottenham duo seemingly snubbed their boss, despite Frank’s attempts to acknowledge them.

The Danish manager has since confirmed that the two players visited his office the following day to express their apologies for seemingly ignoring their gaffer.

“Micky and Djed came into my office yesterday unprompted to say sorry. They were just frustrated,” Frank commented on Monday.

“Of course I was happy they came in because I knew the questions would come today. We had a good chat but we will keep it internally. It would be very, very, very unusual for me to throw a player under the bus, because we’re all human,” he stated further.

Spurs are scheduled to play FC Kobenhavn in the Champions League on Tuesday night, with many expecting them to win.

It remains to be seen whether Spence and Van de Ven will feature in upcoming games, but it would appear that Frank holds no grudge against the pair.

However, given the limited time between matches, the gaffer could opt to rotate his squad, potentially giving some of the defensive players a rest before the early match on Saturday against Manchester United.
