Frenkie de Jong Injured

News outlet ‘AS’ disclosed on Thursday morning that FC Barcelona later that day officially verified via a medical announcement that Frenkie De Jong had sustained an injury.

During his most recent practice session, the Dutch player incurred a rupture in the lower part of the biceps in his right leg, rendering him unavailable for the upcoming game against Villarreal.

According to Barcelona’s statement, De Jong is expected to be sidelined for a period of five to six weeks, meaning he will be absent from the Copa del Rey’s second leg against Atlético de Madrid, as well as La Liga fixtures versus Villarreal, Athletic, and Sevilla.

This challenging unavailability presents another considerable setback for Flick. Coincidentally, as Pedri begins his return, De Jong’s absence now looms.

In his stead, a segment of the fanbase is advocating for Marc Bernal to be given an opportunity, given his impressive recent performances.
