CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Giannis Antetokounmpo will be absent from the Milwaukee Bucks’ lineup in Wednesday evening’s contest against the Charlotte Hornets due to a problem with his knee.
The Bucks organization announced on Wednesday that the two-time recipient of the league’s most valuable player award will be unavailable for the game, citing left knee patellar tendinopathy as the reason.
Charlotte will also be without the services of LaMelo Ball, who is experiencing a right ankle impingement, and Brandon Miller, who is dealing with a left shoulder subluxation.
This marks the third game in a sequence of four nights for the Bucks. During Monday night’s game, Antetokounmpo contributed 15 of his total 30 points in the fourth quarter, playing a crucial role as the Bucks came back from a 13-point deficit to secure a 116-114 victory against Dallas. Milwaukee’s schedule also includes games on consecutive nights later in the week, as they host Charlotte on Friday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.
Antetokounmpo is currently leading the NBA with an average of 33.4 points per game and holds the sixth position in rebounding, averaging 11.9 rebounds per game. Additionally, he is averaging 6.2 assists per game.
The Bucks’ roster for Wednesday’s game will also be without Taurean Prince and Kevin Porter Jr. Prince is sidelined indefinitely due to a herniated disk in his neck. Porter has been absent from the court since sustaining a sprained left ankle in Milwaukee’s inaugural game of the season, and he recently underwent meniscus surgery on his right knee.
