Following conversations that developed during the break, prominent guard Josh Giddey came to terms on a four-year, $100 million contract continuation with the Chicago Bulls, as reported by Shams Charania of ESPN. Giddey was a restricted free agent. The previous season saw Giddey achieve averages of 14.6 points, along with career-best statistics in rebounds (8.1), assists (7.2), steals (1.2), and a 37.8% success rate on shots taken from beyond the arc.

The Bulls point guard stood out as one of only eight players in the history of the NBA to maintain averages of at least 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Giddey finds himself alongside notable figures like Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Nikola Jokic, and Lula Doncic, all of whom comprise this distinguished group.

Additionally, Giddey accumulated the second-highest number of triple-doubles (seven) within the Bulls’ franchise history, exceeded only by Michael Jordan’s impressive count of 15 triple-doubles achieved during the 1988-89 season.

Giddey experienced considerable success as the 2024-25 season progressed, averaging 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.1 assists, while also maintaining a 45% shooting accuracy from three-point range. During the concluding month of the season, Giddey performed while dealing with a muscle injury in his right hand.

Giddey embodies the future potential for the Bulls at the point guard position after his acquisition by the team in a transaction that sent Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Initially, the Thunder selected Giddey as the No. 6 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Giddey also holds the distinction of being the youngest player in NBA annals to secure a triple-double, accomplishing this feat with 17 points, 14 assists, and 13 rebounds at the age of 19 years and 84 days while playing for the Thunder in 2022.
