A novel golf exhibition is scheduled for Wednesday evening, pitting Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and their respective teams against each other at Trump National Golf Club. This event, named the 2025 Golf Channel Games, will feature two groups of four players engaging in a sequence of entertaining, rapid-fire competitions that draw inspiration from other athletic contests.
Last year, Scheffler and McIlroy successfully partnered in a Las Vegas exhibition golf match, prevailing over LIV Golf players Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau; however, for this upcoming event, they will be competing as adversaries.
The competing duos will navigate five distinct events: a driving accuracy test against the clock, a short-game challenge against the clock, a team relay, a 14-club skill test, and a final direct confrontation between Scheffler and McIlroy, where they will hit shots from designated zones. The team accumulating the highest score will be declared the champion of the entire contest.

Structure of the Golf Channel Games
Speed Driving Contest: Participants face off individually, with a two-minute timer to launch drives into a designated scoring area.
Accelerated Short-Game Challenge: This involves individual performance where golfers chip balls to land within a particular range of the flag and sink a predetermined quantity of putts from various distances, all within a three-minute time limit.
Group Relay: Strategic planning will be paramount as each four-person team engages in an alternate-shot format over three holes. Team members will be positioned at specific points – one at the tee, another in the fairway, and two situated on or near the greens – with victory awarded to the side that achieves the optimal score in the least amount of time.
Full Bag Challenge: A pair of golfers will engage in a direct contest. These duos will select clubs from an identical golf bag to hit shots from pre-set distances in the fairway as part of a closest-to-the-pin event. Upon using a club, it becomes unavailable, implying each participant will execute seven distinct shots, utilizing all 14 clubs collectively. All eight competitors in the tournament will partake in four individual pairings.
Leaders’ Showdown: McIlroy and Scheffler will go head-to-head. Each golfer will execute shots from diverse ranges, including from a sand trap, adjacent to the green, and putts of thirty feet and ten feet. The individual with the smallest aggregate distance from the hole across all shots will claim victory.
