The suggestion has been made that the Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, should consider exploring alternative career paths before the opportunity diminishes.
During his tenure in England, Guardiola, aged 54, has achieved considerable success, including securing six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League trophy.
However, a former associate and acquaintance has made a rather audacious proposal, suggesting that the ex-Barcelona head coach should contemplate a departure from the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola told he should walk out on Manchester City
Guardiola’s existing agreement in England is set to run until 2027. It remains uncertain whether, upon its conclusion, the Spanish manager will seek a different venture or opt to step away from coaching, akin to Jurgen Klopp’s recent decision.
Carles Planchart, a close confidant who concluded his tenure at Manchester City the previous season, suggests Guardiola should explore new horizons while also making a noteworthy assertion.
“It’s a choice he must personally consider,” Planchart stated, regarding the possibility of this being Pep’s final season with City.
“I believe a project should span approximately five or six years, but not beyond that timeframe. This applies universally, not just to him. Following that, a period of rejuvenation is necessary. As a friend, I would recommend he seek a new undertaking, as he still has much to offer.”
Guardiola has been reserved about his future plans, with his contract in Manchester nearing its end. This is particularly notable, given that some individuals had anticipated the long-tenured Manchester City manager would depart the previous year.
“I have an additional two years remaining, with a possible extension of two more,” Guardiola stated when questioned about his future intentions recently. “Therefore, the question arises as to whether I will conclude my tenure this year, in two years, or in four years, at which point I will take a sabbatical. However, at present, I feel content.”
“The Manchester City squad is instilling positive sentiments in me, commencing with the [Club] World Cup in the United States. There, we cultivated a dynamic, I perceived a quality that was absent last season.
“The training sessions, non-verbal cues, minute aspects, punctuality, defensive actions, even inconsequential elements such as throw-in defense, underscore the team’s cohesion! This, in my estimation, will enable us to exhibit greater consistency compared to the previous season.”
