CHARLOTTE — After being removed from the injured reserve list on Saturday, Buffalo Bills’ top draft selection, Maxwell Hairston, is poised to make his debut in the National Football League.
The Bills are scheduled to compete against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, FOX) following their week off.
Hairston sustained a right LCL sprain during training exercises on July 29. His 21-day practice opportunity commenced on Monday, and he was classified as having limited involvement throughout the week.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott underscored that their strategy for Hairston’s prospective comeback would be incremental.
“The important thing is to handle expectations,” McDermott commented on Friday. “I recognize that he is a high draft selection. However, he has been sidelined for a substantial period, so we are endeavoring to manage the situation with sensitivity while simultaneously providing support and encouragement.”
Additionally, the Bills promoted safety Jordan Poyer and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips from the practice roster subsequent to placing starting safety Taylor Rapp (knee) on injured reserve and with defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (calf) unavailable for the contest.
