Henry Cejudo has no intention of letting go of a potential matchup with Nurideen “Dean The Great” Shabazz.
The Olympic gold medalist was scheduled to square off against Shabazz last Saturday, but an injury forced “Deen The Great” to pull out of the card. Consequently, “Triple C” went head-to-head with Javon Walton in Miami, securing a split decision win in the main event of the Misfits Boxing card. On the very same event, Tony Ferguson also stepped into the ring, defeating Mahmoud Sebie via stoppage to keep his middleweight championship.
During an interview with Fred Beck on “Fred Talks Fighting,” Cejudo emphasized his desire to fight Shabazz, while also alleging that the influencer-boxer is actively avoiding him (as reported by MMAJunkie).
“Above all, I believe Deen ‘The Duck’ owes me a damn matchup,” Cejudo declared. “Avoiding fights is his style, and I am ready to put an end to his ducking. People need to quit using the moniker ‘Deen The Great’—it should be ‘Deen The Coward’ instead. Why aren’t we using that name? He must step up to the plate and trade blows, because that was our initial agreement. If he isn’t capable of doing so, then he should stick to streaming and shut his mouth. You aren’t a real fighter if you behave that way. If you refuse to step in the ring, just keep broadcasting online and enjoy hanging around with your buddy Adrien ‘Boner’ (Adrien Broner).”
Following his departure from professional mixed martial arts, Cejudo has re-engaged with freestyle wrestling with the RAF promotion, alongside his venture into the influencer boxing scene. The ex-double-champ of the UFC is keeping himself active and is determined to lock in a showdown with “Deen The Great” very soon.
Shabazz previously entered the squared circle in late 2025, suffering a defeat via unanimous decision against Amado Vargas. It is still uncertain if he will agree to reschedule the postponed match with Cejudo.
