The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) could soon add a promising female Bantamweight to its ranks.
Beatriz “Bia” Mesquita, a highly-rated women’s prospect, captured the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) Bantamweight title at LFA 211 last night (Sat., June 20, 2025), defeating Sierra Dinwoodie via second-round TKO inside Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino in Salamanca, New York. She is the third woman to hold the title.
Jacqueline Cavalcanti and Sarah Alpar are the only other fighters to have held the LFA women’s 135-pound championship.
Mesquita’s superior grappling skills were evident throughout the fight. She took Dinwoodie down in both rounds, and in the second round, she unleashed a barrage of ground-and-pound strikes, forcing the referee to stop the fight and award her the technical knockout victory.
Watch the finish below:
The undefeated Mesquita (5-0) has been a dominant force on the regional MMA scene since committing to the sport full-time. While she is 34 years old, her accomplishments are significant: she holds 10 IBJJF championships (a Guinness World Record) and an ADCC gold medal from her decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu background.
Mesquita was close to a UFC contract in March, but an illegal upkick at LFA 203 resulted in a disqualification and delayed her opportunity. Before that, she had submitted all her opponents, three in the first round.
Expect to see Mesquita make her UFC debut later this year.
