The hierarchy at St. James’ Park might face some contentious remarks from Vlado Lemic, Alexander Isak’s representative, after the transfer window concluded.
Throughout his career as a football agent, the Croatian-born negotiator has facilitated numerous significant player transfers, although few may rival the magnitude of the £130 million deal that saw Isak move to Liverpool, setting a new British transfer record.
Reportedly, the 59-year-old played a crucial part in Arjen Robben and Mateja Kezman’s transfers to Chelsea in 2004, having cultivated a connection with PSV Eindhoven, the selling club, and Roman Abramovich, Chelsea’s owner at the time, who hailed from Russia.
Alexander Isak’s agent hints at dissatisfaction with Newcastle United
Royston Drenthe’s move from Feyenoord to Real Madrid in 2007, Branislav Ivanovic’s transfer to Chelsea, Samuel Eto’o’s move to Anzhi Makhachkala, and Luka Modric’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur for The Galacticos in 2012 have all been attributed to Isak’s representative.
Lemic was contacted for his input by Jim White, a journalist and host at talkSPORT, on the morning following the announcement of Isak’s arrival at Liverpool late on transfer deadline day.
According to reports, Lemic responded to White by stating, “It’s agreeable to have companionship, but recognizing those you’ll never associate with again is even more satisfying.”
These remarks from the agent may be interpreted as directed towards the Newcastle management, with whom Lemic and Isak reportedly had disagreements during the summer, before resolving the matter with a transfer towards the end of the window.
Simon Jordan, the former chairman of Crystal Palace and co-host of White’s radio show, jokingly remarked, “I’m confident he’ll be well-received in Newcastle.”
Numerous Newcastle supporters believe that Isak’s conduct throughout the summer has irreparably tainted his legacy at St. James’ Park.
The striker was instrumental in the club’s Carabao Cup victory last season, scoring the decisive goal that brought an end to the club’s 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy. Newcastle issued a succinct 37-word announcement confirming the player’s departure on Monday night.
In his initial interview as a Liverpool player, Isak characterized the summer as ‘protracted’ and ‘complex.’ He has been assigned the No.9 jersey at Anfield and is expected to debut after the international break.
