Jabeur Takes Break from Tennis for Health.

Ons Jabeur is choosing to prioritize her well-being and will be taking a break from professional tennis.

The Women’s Tennis Association declared, external this past Thursday that the tennis star from Tunisia had opted out of participating in the upcoming Montreal Open and also stated that the 30-year-old was “the only competitor within the top 99 not registered for next month’s US Open”.

“Over the course of the last couple of years, I have pushed my limits, persevering through injuries and encountering numerous other obstacles,” Jabeur expressed in an online communication.

“However, truthfully, I have not experienced happiness on the court for a considerable period.”

“Tennis is undoubtedly a wonderful sport. However, at this moment, I believe it is necessary to step back and prioritize my own needs: to relax, to recuperate, and to rediscover the simple pleasures of life.”

Jabeur’s ranking peaked at number two, but she has since declined to 71st.

Having twice reached the final at Wimbledon, she had to withdraw during her opening round match at the All England Club earlier this year, as she faced difficulties during what was the tournament’s hottest opening day on record.

Following her departure from Wimbledon, Jabeur commented: “I am quite disheartened, as this doesn’t aid my confidence or my continued efforts, despite this season having been particularly challenging for me.”

She further mentioned that she would be resting and would “attempt to detach myself from tennis for a short while” to enjoy time with her family.
