Right-handed pitcher Jason Adam, a significant contributor for the San Diego Padres’ bullpen this year, suffered a torn quadriceps tendon in his left leg during the team’s eventual defeat to the Orioles on Monday. Manager Mike Shildt informed the media of the diagnosis after the game’s conclusion.

The event occurred in the seventh when Adam tried to field a ground ball off the bat of Gunnar Henderson. Adam awkwardly moved while attempting to grab the ball and fell on the field in distress. Following medical attention from the team’s trainers, he was taken off the field via a cart.

As reported by the Sporting Tribune, a specific return timeline is unavailable until Adam gets an MRI. Although, Adam mentioned that he anticipates being out for half a year to nine months.

After the loss against the Orioles, the Padres have a 76-62 record. They are behind the Dodgers by 2 ½
