Latest news from Jets camp
Tuesday, July 22
Relative to the Jets’ past, it was a rather calm day for reporting. There was no media frenzy surrounding Aaron Rodgers, no players holding out for contract negotiations, and no significant distractions. This likely pleased the new head coach, Aaron Glenn, whose expressed desire is to “operate quietly.”
On the first day, the Jets celebrated the accomplishments of young stars Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, both of whom signed substantial contract extensions the prior week. Specifically, Gardner officially signed his four-year, $120.4 million extension not long after reporting. Both players addressed the media for the first time after securing their new agreements.
The Jets also highlighted their newly renovated, state-of-the-art locker room, equipped with numerous advanced technological features. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams described it as “Super dope.”

New facilities, new coach, new quarterback, practically everything is new. Seeing a pattern?
Now, they simply need to … well, start winning games.
The Jets have suffered through nine consecutive losing seasons and have been absent from the playoffs for 14 straight years. Williams, who joined the team in 2019, admitted that the ongoing losing streak is “certainly difficult,” but he remains optimistic that the team’s fortunes will improve.
“I believe there are extremely elevated expectations for this team, for this coaching staff, for this organization, and what we aim to achieve, and where we aspire to be,” Williams stated.

Glenn received considerable praise early on. Referencing Glenn’s experience as an assistant coach with the Detroit Lions and his earlier playing days with the Jets, Wilson mentioned that the first-year coach has “witnessed the formula” for transforming struggling franchises. … The first practice session will commence at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, earlier compared to previous years. … Gardner appreciates the new defensive structure, which will emphasize man-to-man coverage more than in recent seasons. He expects to have the opportunity to cover the opponent’s top wide receiver.
