The Philadelphia Sixers listed Joel Embiid on their injury information sheet due to “right knee uncomfortableness” on Tuesday, declaring him unable to participate in the match against the Boston Celtics this evening. Sixers head strategist Nick Nurse informed correspondents that Embiid voiced uncomfortableness in his right knee during the team’s morning exercise on Tuesday.

“He underwent some scans on that this afternoon, and medical professionals are present this evening to review the results alongside him,” Nurse mentioned.

Embiid was absent for the majority of the preceding two years as a result of a left knee concern, following a meniscus rupture around the midpoint of the 2023-24 period, necessitating a subsequent arthroscopic procedure the previous season after participation was restricted to a mere 19 competitions. Embiid and the Sixers had hoped the surgery would resolve his problems and permit him to more consistently return to the court, but he currently faces an issue with his right knee.

“There exist no expectations at all,” Nurse responded when prompted about the possibility of Embiid potentially missing numerous games. “We shall await the insights derived from the imaging.”

Embiid has previously sustained an injury to his right knee, enduring a right knee strain throughout the 2023 Playoffs during the opening round against the Brooklyn Nets, consequently limiting him moving ahead.

Throughout the ongoing season, Embiid has participated in six of the Sixers’ ten contests, registering averages of 19.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while having his playing time capped at 20-25 minutes. Despite an initially conservative approach to his allocated minutes early in the season, he once more contends with knee uncomfortableness.  The Sixers have precluded him from participating in back-to-back games, notably including their most recent competition against Detroit, but his unavailability on Tuesday evening gives rise to fresh apprehensions, given it follows a two-day interval of rest.

The Sixers hold a 6-4 record for the season, attributable to an exceptional commencement from their youthful backcourt, steered by Tyrese Maxey and newcomer VJ Edgecombe.
