Johnson Wagner’s ‘Pinch Me’ Moment: Joining CBS Golf as On-Course Reporter and Digital Contributor

Friday saw the announcement of Johnson Wagner’s addition to the CBS golf broadcast crew. The golfer, a three-time victor on the PGA Tour, will function as an on-course correspondent during live telecasts and will also make frequent appearances on digital outlets, where he plans to furnish tournament analyses, summaries, and develop unique programming.

For the 2026 PGA Tour season, Wagner will join Dottie Pepper and Mark Immelman among the on-course reporters for CBS. The primary broadcast in the Super Tower will be anchored by Jim Nantz, Trevor Immelman, Frank Noblio, and Colt Knost, complemented by interviewer Amanda Balionis and Andrew Catalon, who presides over particular tournaments.

“Throughout my career, I’ve accomplished much – competing on the PGA Tour and working in television for the past three years – yet I cannot recall a time when I felt such profound joy, a moment so surreal, as I do right now,” stated Wagner. “As a part of the CBS Sports golf roster, I am simply eager to dive in and commence my duties. Collaborating with Jim Nantz, Trev, Frank, Dottie, Mark, Catalon, and the entire group, I am profoundly – words genuinely fail to express my enthusiasm to become a part of this collective.”

Wagner’s move to CBS Sports comes after a period with NBC Sports and Golf Channel, where he offered real-time tournament analysis and studio commentary. A highlight of his tenure was his popular reenactments of golf strokes from the day’s play, a feature he intends to maintain in his new position.

“I am aware that many individuals harbor reservations about my departure from Golf Channel and ‘Live From,’ fearing that our reenactments will cease, and I must assure them that this is incorrect,” Wagner commented. “Whether they become hallmark events or where they will take place is currently uncertain, but we are absolutely going to excel.”

“My mind is brimming with numerous concepts, and I am genuinely thrilled to immerse myself in the upcoming progression of my work, aiming to expand it—not necessarily to make it superior, but to develop it further and continue advancing upon what I have established previously with Golf Channel.”

The CBS golf season is slated to commence in late January with the Farmers Insurance Open, offering broadcast across CBS and Paramount+. Beyond televising the Masters and PGA Championship, CBS is set to air seven of the eight designated tournaments on the 2026 PGA Tour calendar, along with all three competitions constituting the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
