WILMINGTON, N.C. — In a gesture of profound generosity, former basketball superstar Michael Jordan is contributing $10 million to a prominent healthcare facility in North Carolina, a tribute to his beloved mother.
The celebrated six-time NBA champion, now a successful entrepreneur, publicly revealed his significant donation to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, situated in Wilmington, this past Tuesday. As a result of this substantial contribution, the medical institution will formally rename its neuroscience institute in honor of Deloris Jordan.
“My mother instilled in me the significance of empathy and community involvement, and I believe that there is no more fitting way to commemorate her legacy than by actively facilitating access to cutting-edge neurological treatment for those who require it most,” Jordan stated regarding his philanthropic act.
These funds are intended to bolster his mother’s longstanding commitment to promoting health and well-being, with a particular focus on improving accessibility to specialists, innovative technologies, and comprehensive care, especially for individuals grappling with the complexities of stroke, spinal conditions, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and various other medical conditions.
