Kai Trump, offspring of Donald Trump and a Miami collegiate golf prospect, will debut on the LPGA Tour this November after securing a sponsor’s spot at The ANNIKA. On Tuesday, tournament organizers revealed that Trump, an upperclassman at The Benjamin School situated in Palm Beach, Florida, had been chosen as one of three recipients of sponsor opportunities for the event scheduled for November 10-16 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, marking the second-to-last event in the LPGA Tour calendar.
Trump, age 18, is presently active in youth and amateur golf matches under the American Junior Golf Association and the South Florida PGA’s Srixon Medalist Tour, recently achieving a third-place result during the summer. She holds the No. 461 position in the AJGA’s female golfer rankings and intends to join the Hurricanes’ women’s golf team in the upcoming autumn.
“It has always been my ambition to compete among the world’s best in the LPGA Tour, and I am delighted for the chance to participate in The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican this November,” Trump shared in a statement. “This competition promises to be an unforgettable experience. I am eager to meet and compete with many of my golf idols and mentors as I begin my journey on the LPGA Tour.”
Trump, the firstborn daughter of Donald Trump Jr., has gained significant recognition as a promising young golfer in amateur circles, utilizing a social media presence of over six million followers across various platforms. Aside from golfing, she has recently introduced an apparel and lifestyle company intended to encourage and support young women pursuing athletic endeavors.
“Sponsor opportunities offer a crucial pathway to feature rising talent and bring increased focus to both our tournaments and the LPGA,” stated LPGA executive Ricki Lasky in a release. “Kai’s extensive fanbase and influence are aiding in the introduction of golf to new audiences, notably among younger enthusiasts. We are thrilled to witness her progression and are proud to collaborate with our partners in the Tampa Bay area, whose unwavering dedication to promoting women’s golf helps promote the LPGA and broaden its visibility.”
The ANNIKA, hosted by Annika Sorenstam, a ten-time major championship winner, regularly features one of the most competitive lineups of the LPGA season. WNBA standout Caitlin Clark is also scheduled to participate in the tournament’s pro-am event on November 12.
Additional sponsor opportunities were given to Wake Forest senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen and Northwestern All-American Lauryn Nguyen. Nelly Korda is the current defending champion.
