Kartal: Still on Track After China Open Exit

Following her participation in the China Open, Sonay Kartal expressed her belief that she is “advancing correctly” towards entering the top 10 globally.

The British player, ranked fourth in Britain, was defeated by Linda Noskova with a score of 6-3, 6-4, which resulted in her elimination during the quarter-finals held in Beijing.

In the preceding stage, the 23-year-old emerged victorious against Mirra Andreeva, who holds the fifth position globally, marking it as the most significant triumph in her professional journey.

Despite her setback against Noskova, the player, currently ranked 81st worldwide, voiced her optimism about her continuous advancement in the rankings.

“The score did not reflect the intensity of the match,” Kartal commented.

“Although I’m not entirely content with how I performed today, I am grateful for the amazing week I’ve experienced.”

“I am convinced that I am progressing as needed. It has significantly boosted my self-assurance.”

“I have demonstrated to myself that by simply refining a couple of aspects of my play, I can elevate my performance to compete among the top 10, surpassing my current ranking by a considerable margin.”
