Admirers of Kobe Bryant will have a chance to place bids on a pair of game-worn sneakers from the late NBA star’s initial game in the league, offered through Gotta Have Rock and Roll auctions.
These Adidas shoes, dating back to November of 1996, are autographed by Bryant and are accompanied by stubs from the game where he debuted, along with a verification letter from MEARS. Anticipated sale prices range from $300,000 to $500,000 as the bidding process gets underway on Wednesday.
According to the auction site’s detailed information:
Bryant’s playing time totaled only 6 minutes and 22 seconds that evening, where he unfortunately missed his lone attempt to score a field goal. However, he secured one rebound and managed to block one shot during his inaugural NBA appearance. Ultimately, the Lakers emerged victorious with a score of 91-85.
The twice scoring leader proceeded to secure five NBA championship titles, garnered 18 selections for the All-Star team, earned 12 spots on the NBA All-Defensive squads, and was distinguished as the MVP for the year 2007-08. He was posthumously inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the graduating class of 2020 in the month of May.
The starting bid for these shoes is established at $100,000.
