Little League World Series Format
Here’s a quick recap: the 2025 Little League World Series will feature 20 teams: 10 teams representing the United States and 10 teams from international clubs. These teams will compete in a modified double-elimination tournament. Competition started on Wednesday, August 13, with the winners advancing and remaining in the winners’ bracket.
Starting on Saturday, August 16, the teams that lost their first games will compete to determine which teams will continue in the competition. A team is eliminated after losing twice.
That will change when the championships start. Both the U.S. championship game and the international championship game will be single-elimination games that will take place on Saturday, August 23. The same is true of the LLWS championship game. Because of this, a team may be eliminated from the competition after just one loss.
Games will last for six innings. If the score is tied after six innings, both teams will play the seventh inning as usual, without any ghost runners on base. A runner will begin each inning on second base if a game lasts longer than seven innings.
