While Bundesliga titleholders Bayern Munich are not currently making active moves for Florian Wirtz, reports from Europe indicate that Vincent Kompany’s side still hold an interest in the German playmaker.
The player’s performance has been quite ordinary across his initial 54 appearances for Liverpool, falling short of the lofty standards expected of his £116.5 million transfer fee.
Speculation recently emerged claiming that Bayern Munich, whom the Reds beat to sign him last year, were readying a bid for the midfielder. Although those claims are false, their admiration for Wirtz has reportedly not waned.

An update from Christian Falk and CF Bayern suggests that Kompany is fully satisfied with his existing options, meaning the Bavarian giants are not making any immediate transfer moves for the player.
Nonetheless, should the German international become available for a transfer, Munich would supposedly be his preferred destination for initial negotiations.
Falk stated: “Naturally, should Florian Wirtz decide at any stage down the line that he wants to head back to the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich would be his absolute priority for talks.
“Even so, no such plans exist right now. Bayern boast a deep squad, and confidence is incredibly high. [Jamal] Musiala is tied down to a lengthy deal, and it is worth noting that Vincent Kompany is implementing a fresh tactical approach.
“This strategy places Michael Olise right at the heart of things, mirroring his role with the France national side. Consequently, the Bundesliga club has plenty of alternatives at their disposal.”
Falk also pointed out that the massive fee Liverpool paid to secure his services makes a swift exit highly improbable. “We must also remember the monumental financial outlay Liverpool committed to secure Wirtz.”
To begin with, any talk of the playmaker returning to Germany always lacked credibility due to the Premier League side’s obvious reluctance to sanction a sale.
If the Anfield hierarchy decided that letting him leave so early in his contract was the right move, they would almost certainly face a significant financial loss on their investment.
Yet, managing only nine goal involvements in 38 Premier League fixtures is bound to raise alarms for a £116 million playmaker operating alongside top talents like Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, and last season, Mohamed Salah.
