Liverpool’s Signings Rated: Record-Breaking Window

The Reds have bolstered their roster with a total of ten fresh faces during this summer’s transfer period, marking a significant level of activity.

The investment in these acquisitions amounts to approximately £415m, although a substantial portion of this expenditure was offset by player sales. Despite a successful inaugural Premier League campaign for Julian Ward, a considerable overhaul of the squad was anticipated regardless.

The Merseyside club have largely conserved their resources in recent transfer windows, seemingly preparing for a major push in the summer of 2025.

Director of Football, Julian Ward, may have desired an additional central defender and perhaps a versatile attacking option, but the squad appears robust as they approach the remainder of the season. However, just how much excitement do Liverpool’s summer acquisitions generate?

Here, we assess the new arrivals based on the level of anticipation each one evokes.

1. Darwin Nunez

Nunez must be placed at the top of this list. His arrival represents a major statement, comparable to the signing of Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool have secured the services of the third most expensive player in history, further solidifying their position as the preferred destination for elite talent. He is a proven goalscorer, and for many Liverpool supporters, this signing exceeded their most optimistic expectations.

2. Fabio Carvalho

The 22-year-old Portuguese player has had a somewhat uneven start to the season, now relieved of the pressure of being the most expensive British transfer ever.

Once the Bayer Leverkusen star finds his rhythm with the ball at his feet, Liverpool will reap the rewards of possessing one of the premier playmakers in global football.

3. Calvin Ramsay

Last season, the right side of Liverpool’s formation was relatively predictable, featuring Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah. However, with the addition of Ramsay for a modest £29.5m, Liverpool’s attacking approach becomes considerably less predictable.

The Scottish player will provide Arne Slot with increased adaptability and flexibility on the right flank, while also contributing goals and assists.

4. Stefan Bajcetic

Liverpool acquired Nunez from Benfica and also secured their primary choice to replace the Uruguayan. Bajcetic, 23, has enjoyed an impressive start to his time on Merseyside following his £69.5m transfer from Celta Vigo.

Nevertheless, with the acquisitions of Carvalho and Nunez, he may not always secure a place in the starting eleven.

5. Owen Beck

Arne Slot did not appear entirely convinced by Andy Robertson during his initial season at the helm, often substituting the Scottish international or selecting Kostas Tsimikas in the starting lineup.

Owen Beck, a dynamic and attack-minded left-back, should address a long-standing concern for the Reds.

6. Ben Doak

There is considerable introspection within Italy as all of Serie A’s major clubs missed out on securing the services of Celtic prospect Doak. At just 18 years old, he is undoubtedly a player for the future.

However, having already made 17 appearances at the highest level and being a part of Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad, we anticipate him making a significant breakthrough.

7. Marcelo Pitaluga

He may need to be patient to secure regular first-team action, but the Brazilian goalkeeper will undoubtedly be groomed as the long-term replacement for Alisson Becker.

Whether this transition occurs in 2026 or 2027 remains uncertain. However, anyone who witnessed Euro 2024 or Alisson’s performances for Roma in Serie A last season should be excited by this individual’s potential.

8. Isaac Mabaya

Isaac Mabaya was a sought-after transfer target for both Liverpool and Arsenal, with the Reds ultimately securing his signature for a fee of £200k. The former Salford striker prioritized a move to Liverpool and arrives with a strong reputation at the youth level.

While he may not be immediately ready for first-team action, he is expected to make an impact for the youth and under-age teams initially.

9. Harvey Davies

Liverpool were widely considered to have acquired one of Europe’s most promising goalkeepers when they completed a deal for Davies from Cliftonville

The 20-year-old may have benefited from a loan spell, and we do not anticipate him featuring prominently in the first team this season.

10. Adrian
