Logan Paul holds the view that his sibling, Jake Paul, could have completed all rounds in his bout with Anthony Joshua, had a particular element of his training regimen been modified.
The contest between Jake and Joshua proved to be a highly profitable boxing spectacle, with Netflix reporting an audience of 33 million worldwide. From the moment the fight was arranged, both boxing aficionados and professionals anticipated a considerable imbalance. Nevertheless, Jake endured until the sixth round, at which point he was defeated by a powerful right punch delivered by the erstwhile heavyweight titleholder.
During a recent broadcast of the “Impaulsive” podcast, Logan expressed his conviction that Jake’s physical readiness was the reason he couldn’t last until the fight’s conclusion (credit to MMAFighting).
“My sense was that if Jake’s cardiovascular endurance had been superior, he would have possessed a genuine chance, at minimum, to reach the judges’ decision,” Paul stated.
“And for those questioning Jake’s tactical approach … his movement on the periphery, with many suggesting, ‘He just kept running!’ That’s incorrect; that’s fundamental boxing. Floyd Mayweather established his entire career on such tactics. Particularly when confronting a larger opponent who dominates the ring’s core, the appropriate method to secure victory involves maintaining mobility, pivoting, altering course, and forcing the opponent to miss. That encapsulates the essence of the sport. It’s about being elusive. It’s about evading. It’s effective.”
Jake will be sidelined for a period due to a fractured jaw he sustained. He recently had a successful surgical procedure and subsequently featured on a podcast alongside Logan. Jake acknowledged his agreement with his sibling concerning his stamina being a hinderance to him potentially completing all rounds against Joshua.
Jake’s future endeavors following his complete recuperation are yet undetermined. He has indicated a desire for a boxing encounter with Francis Ngannou, who was approached as a substitute for Gervonta “Tank” Davis but declined the offer. This situation consequently sparked a verbal dispute between Ngannou and Jake.
