Longtime Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton retires from NFL

The professional football player, T.Y. Hilton, known for his four Pro Bowl selections during a decade with the Indianapolis Colts, publicly declared his departure from the sport on Wednesday.

On the social media platform X, Hilton communicated, “Following an extraordinary career, I am now ready to step away from football and embark on a new phase of my life.” He further expressed gratitude, stating, “My appreciation goes out to Mr. Irsay, his relatives, and the entire Colts franchise for putting their faith in a young man from Miami and enabling me to fulfill my aspirations while representing the horseshoe emblem.”

In the year 2016, Hilton topped the National Football League in receiving yardage, accumulating 1,448 yards. Throughout his career, his total statistics include 638 receptions for 9,812 yards, which averages out to 15.4 yards per catch. Additionally, he secured 53 touchdowns via receptions and added one more score from a punt return. His final appearance on the field was with the Dallas Cowboys during the 2022 season, where he recorded seven receptions across three contests.

The Indianapolis Colts drafted Hilton, a former collegiate athlete from Florida International University, as their third-round choice (the 92nd selection overall) in the 2012 NFL draft.

Within his public announcement, Hilton also addressed his fellow players, stating, “To my teammates – I am grateful for the camaraderie we shared.” He added, “The early starts, the extended practice sessions, and the intense competitions on Sundays are recollections I will cherish indefinitely.”
