This past weekend at Dundonald Links, Lottie Woad made a memorable entrance onto the LPGA Tour. With a final-round score of 68, culminating in a total of 21 under at the 2025 Women’s Scottish Open, Woad secured an emphatic triumph in her initial professional appearance.
From start to finish, Woad dominated the competition, initially sharing the lead after the first round with a score of 67 on Thursday before claiming the outright lead with a 65 on Friday. Despite facing some pressure on Sunday from Hyo Joo Kim, who briefly tied for the lead after achieving six birdies in her initial 11 holes, Woad managed to respond with a pair of birdies on the 13th and 14th holes to regain the advantage.
Kim’s birdie on the 14th hole brought her to 20 under, just one stroke behind, but subsequent bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes widened the gap to two strokes behind Woad’s leading score. With a two-shot cushion on the 18th, Woad concluded her first professional victory impressively by delivering a precise shot near the pin, setting up a final birdie and securing a three-stroke victory over Kim.
In her last amateur tournament, Woad narrowly missed a playoff at the Evian Championship by a single stroke, directly preceding her victory in Scotland as a professional. Expectations were high for the former Florida State standout and top-ranked amateur to be competitive early in her LPGA journey, and she surpassed those predictions with a victory against a formidable field in Scotland.
Woad is the first competitor to achieve victory in her LPGA Tour debut since Rose Zhang did so in 2023, and she will receive a winner’s prize of $300,000 for her achievement.
