Louis Rees-Zammit stays at Bristol Bears

The Bristol Bears organization has confirmed that Louis Rees-Zammit has pledged his commitment to the club for an extended period.

Despite being associated with several prominent teams, the rapid Welsh player chose to remain at Ashton Gate.

Since his return to rugby following a period in the NFL, LRZ has made a significant impact, recording a GPS speed of 23.57 mph during a try against the Leicester Tigers previously this season.

Pat Lam, the Director of Rugby, stated: “Louis possesses world-class abilities and perfectly represents the style of play we aim for at Bristol Bears.

“Following his return from the NFL, he has demonstrated remarkable professionalism and a relentless drive for self-improvement. While his pace, strength, and range of skills are self-evident, his eagerness to learn, adjust, and perform under pressure truly distinguishes him.

“It’s thrilling to consider that he’s merely begun to tap into his full potential – being only 24 years old, there’s a vast amount more to expect from him. Should he continue his current trajectory, he possesses all the attributes to evolve into one of the sport’s elite global players, and we are thrilled that he has pledged his extended commitment to the team.”

Apparently, Bristol’s adventurous playing approach was instrumental in retaining the ex-Gloucester star, and its relative nearness to Wales likely also played a part.

Rees-Zammit commented: “I am extremely pleased to have pledged my continued involvement with Bristol Bears. This club is ideally suited for me, and I eagerly anticipate what accomplishments we can achieve collectively.

“The atmosphere here empowers me to express my style and engage in the sport I cherish, which in turn allows me to perform at my peak. Stepping onto the field at Ashton Gate before massive audiences and experiencing the supporters’ vigor is extraordinary, and it fills me with optimism for what we can construct together in the coming years.”
