SAINT THOMAS, Virgin Islands — The No. 5-ranked LSU squad achieved a new NCAA milestone by securing its seventh consecutive game with a score of 100 or more points Friday evening, dominating Marist with a final score of 113-53 in the Reef Division’s semifinal contest held at the Paradise Jam tournament.
LSU (standing at 7-0) surpassed the previous NCAA record, which had stood for 43 years. The prior record of six successive 100-point games was established by the 1982 Louisiana Tech team, a squad that emerged victorious in the very first NCAA women’s championship.
That historic Louisiana Tech team featured Kim Mulkey, an All-American point guard who later guided the Tigers to an NCAA championship in 2023. Mulkey’s current team is viewed as a strong contender to vie for another championship title in the upcoming spring season.
LSU boasted seven players who reached double-digit scoring figures, with ZaKiyah Johnson leading the way with 19 points. Substitute player Kate Koval contributed 17 points and secured 10 rebounds, while Flau’Jae Johnson and Amiya Joyner each added 16 points. MiLaysia Fulwiley, Grace Knox, and Jada Richard each contributed 11 points.
Justine Henry recorded the highest score of the game with 21 points, and Lexie Tarul added 11 points for Marist (standing at 2-5).
Flau’Jae Johnson, recognized as one of the two returning first-team all-Southeastern Conference players on the Tigers’ roster, achieved the record-setting basket. She made a layup with just over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, pushing the score to 101-40.
Coach Mulkey utilized the full depth of LSU’s roster, with all 11 players contributing points as the Tigers achieved a 53% shooting accuracy from the field and successfully made 15 out of 18 free-throw attempts.
