The Irish national team has included Tom Farrell, an uncapped centre from Munster, along with Jimmy O’Brien of Leinster, in their roster as they prepare for the Gallagher Cup match against New Zealand and the forthcoming Quilter Nations Series.
Mack Hansen, a wing player from Connacht, will be absent due to the recurrence of a foot injury sustained during the final moments of his province’s defeat against the Bulls.
Hansen’s injury occurred while he was scoring a try in the concluding play of Connacht’s match against the South African URC team held at the Sports Ground on Friday night.
Additionally, two players from Munster are unavailable following their physically demanding victory over Leinster at Croke Park.
Forwards Edwin Edogbo, suffering from a concussion, and Brian Gleeson, with an elbow injury, have also been withdrawn, despite their initial selection to travel with the team to Chicago for the series’ opening Test.
Meanwhile, Bundee Aki, dealing with a hip issue, and Robbie Henshaw, recovering from a groin injury, will continue to undergo assessment but are anticipated to accompany the squad on Tuesday.
No additional players have been incorporated into Andy Farrell’s group of 33.
