Malik Nabers ACL Tear: Giants WR Injured in Week 4

Malik Nabers, a wide receiver for the New York Giants, was transported off the field on a cart during Sunday’s contest against the Los Angeles Chargers, with initial concerns suggesting a potential ACL tear.

On Monday, the Giants verified the somber news, confirming that Nabers will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.

Nabers sustained the injury while attempting to catch a long pass from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart along the right sideline, immediately clutching his right leg in distress.

Athletic trainers promptly attended to Nabers on the field before swiftly deciding to summon the cart. Nabers’ teammates gathered around him in encouragement as he was transported off the field on the cart.

The injury occurred on a free play for the Giants. The Chargers committed an offsides penalty before the snap, and Dart targeted Nabers with a deep pass on third-and-10.

Nabers leaped to compete with cornerback Cam Hart for the football. He seemed to incur the injury while planting his right foot on the turf at MetLife Stadium.

The injury represents a considerable setback for both the Giants and, naturally, Nabers. As a first-round pick in the 2024 Draft, Nabers is recognized as one of the sport’s most promising young talents and New York’s primary offensive threat.

In an impressive rookie season, he amassed 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl recognition despite playing within a struggling offense. Sunday’s game marked his inaugural appearance alongside Dart, who was making his first start since being drafted by the Giants in the first round of April’s NFL Draft.

The Giants harbor hopes that Dart and Nabers can evolve into a potent passing duo. However, those aspirations are now temporarily suspended.
