Mandhana Out, England Star In: ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings Shift

The renowned Indian opening batter, Smriti Mandhana, has descended to the second position in the updated ICC Women’s ODI Batting Standings. She has been surpassed by the English captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt. Recognized for her composed attitude, sophisticated batting style, and steady performance at the opening position, Mandhana had regained the top spot in June and demonstrated strong performances in the recent WODI series, but narrowly missed retaining her position in the latest assessment.

The experienced English all-rounder, Nat Sciver, showcased an outstanding performance in the recent Women’s ODI series against India. Despite England’s 2-1 series loss, Sciver reaffirmed her status as one of the most reliable batters in international cricket, accumulating 160 runs in three matches with a notable average of 53, achieving a top score of 98. Prior to this, she delivered another commendable performance against the West Indies women’s team on home ground.

Notably, Mandhana was overtaken by Nat Sciver by a slim margin of 3 points, with the English all-rounder now holding 731 points compared to Mandhana’s 728. Mandhana, who contributed 115 runs at an average of 38 in the recently concluded series, was instrumental in India’s 2-1 victory a week ago, underscoring her consistency and poise under pressure.

Other India batters moves up in the WODI rankings

Another significant shift in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Standings is seen from the Indian side, where captain Harmanpreet Kaur has achieved notable progress. Her spectacular and decisive century of 102 runs from 84 balls in the final ODI against England has propelled her upwards by 10 positions in the rankings, securing her 11th place among batters. Additionally, Jemimah Rodrigues also experienced advancement, moving up two places to 13th following steady contributions throughout the series. Furthermore, the young wicketkeeper-batter, Richa Ghosh, has made the greatest gain, ascending nine places to achieve a career-best 39th position with 516 rating points—emphasizing India’s formidable batting capabilities.
