Mark McGwire returns to A’s for player development.

Renowned former power hitter Mark McGwire has returned to his original team, the Athletics, taking on a role as a special aide for player growth.

His career with the Oakland Athletics spanned portions of a dozen years, during which he earned All-Star recognition nine times. In 1987, McGwire claimed the AL Rookie of the Year award by launching 49 home runs, setting a new benchmark for a debut season player. Furthermore, he was a pivotal figure in the Athletics squads that competed in the World Series consecutively from 1988 through 1990, culminating in a championship victory in 1989 where they comprehensively defeated their regional adversaries, the San Francisco Giants.
