The upcoming segment of Readers’ Questions will feature Mary Earps answering your inquiries.
A frequent feature in our magazine editions, Readers’ Questions offers readers the chance to pose questions to individuals from the footballing realm, a recurring FourFourTwo segment where your questions are directed to prominent figures in football.
Earps’ journey includes time with Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Doncaster Belles, Coventry City, Birmingham City, Bristol Academy, Reading, Wolfsburg, and Manchester United, before achieving widespread recognition for her performances with the Lionesses.
She was the preferred goalkeeper for Sarina Wiegman at the 2022 European Championship, earning a spot in the tournament’s best eleven after helping England secure the championship with a series of excellent displays.
Earps once again excelled for England during the subsequent year’s global tournament, conceding just four goals in seven matches as England progressed to the final, where she saved a penalty from Jennifer Hermoso but could not prevent a narrow 1-0 loss.
Nevertheless, her efforts resulted in Earps receiving the Golden Glove award and being selected as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2023.
In 2024, Earps was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and later transferred to PSG, but not before assisting Manchester United in winning the FA Cup.
Earps declared her retirement prior to this year’s European Championship after Wiegman communicated that Hannah Hampton would be her preferred option for the approaching competition.
That signaled the end of Earps’ international career as an icon of English football, having accumulated 53 international caps.
As always, we are present on social platforms as well, should you wish to direct inquiries to Earps via X (formerly Twitter), Facebook or Instagram.
