Jamahal Hill vs. Khalil Rountree squared off in a Light Heavyweight contest earlier tonight (Sat. June 21, 2025) live on ABC inside Baku Crystal Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan. In a surprisingly one-sided win, Rountree beat the brakes off his opponent.
The first round was entirely a kickboxing match. Surprisingly, it was Hill who began the leg kicking attack first, though Rountree quickly followed suit. There weren’t too many punching exchanges in the first, but each man landed a couple shots upstairs. Fortunately, the action heated up further in the second. Rountree’s low kicks really began to take effect, knocking Hill out of stance numerous times and clearly hampering his movement. However, Hill still managed to land some clean straight punches, particularly in the final minute.
Rountree really pulled further away in the third. He floored Hill twice, both twice catching Hill completely off-guard with punches over the top. “Sweet Dreams” recovered well, but he was rendered very defensive by his foe’s potent Muay Thai skill. Suddenly, the strike count numbers were growing far, far apart.
The snowball only picked up speed as it continued rolling. Rountree continued to hurt Hill, who hung around gamely but could barely fire back. He was too immobile, and Rountree was too quick on the outside. Any time Hill tried to prolong an exchange, Rountree would chop into his leg and make him rethink his stance.
After five rounds, the judges unanimously awarded Rountree the decision victory. His UFC Baku main event win is far and away the most complete performance of his career, a methodical and vicious display of his improved skill set. If you’ve remained unsold in recent years on Rountree 2.0, this may be the time to reconsider.
Result: Rountree via decision
