With mixed martial arts gaining increasing mainstream appeal, an growing number of Ultimate Fighting Championship athletes are encountering prominent figures from the film industry.
These interactions occasionally result in unexpected and intriguing collaborations. However, on other occasions, situations can become somewhat uncomfortable, similar to the incident a couple of years ago when Conor McGregor nearly engaged in an altercation with musician MGK at an awards ceremony.
Among the notable personalities who recently encountered a UFC competitor was Matt Damon, an individual recognized as one of the most prolific and esteemed performers in cinema today.
The athlete Damon met was Henry Cejudo. For those familiar with MMA, Cejudo holds the distinction of being a past UFC champion in both the bantamweight and flyweight divisions. Furthermore, he is an Olympic wrestling medalist.
Despite Cejudo’s impressive list of achievements, Damon initially failed to identify him during their meeting. It appears Damon assessed his stature and subsequently paid him no mind, describing him as “quite diminutive.”
Only at a later point did the actor become aware of the identity of the person he had encountered.

“A man approached, dressed in what appeared to be chinos, specifically khaki trousers, and a blue collared business-style shirt, complete with eyeglasses,” Damon recounted to Rogan, a veteran UFC analyst. “He possessed a very slight build, and I somewhat overlooked him as I continued to listen to the ongoing narrative, until Patrick interjected, ‘Matt, are you acquainted with Henry?’
“Upon turning, I saw it was Henry Cejudo, and my thought was, this individual could utterly demolish me instantly. He could completely annihilate me, and he embodies the type of person an unsuspecting fool might attempt to challenge, understand? He doesn’t project an image, he simply is that formidable.”
