Max Holloway has shared his initial thoughts on social media following his surprising defeat for the BMF championship at UFC 326 last weekend.
The ex-UFC featherweight king, Max Holloway, suffered his inaugural lightweight loss in seven years during his recent clash with Charles Oliveira at UFC 326. Having previously secured consecutive wins in BMF title contests, Holloway experienced a decisive loss due to Oliveira’s superior Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills and relentless grappling offensive.
Supporters, analysts, and several of Holloway’s fellow competitors were taken aback by the unfolding of the UFC 326 main event. A multitude anticipated a sustained striking battle, yet Oliveira effectively neutralized Holloway’s attacks right from the beginning.
Despite being 34 years of age, Holloway possesses ample opportunity to mount another prospective challenge for both the undisputed lightweight and BMF championships. In his initial statements post-UFC 326, Holloway recognized that significant effort remains before he can attain his objectives.

Via a recent Instagram update, Holloway shared his initial public thoughts following UFC 326.
“Experiencing both peak triumphs and profound disappointments,” Holloway commenced his message.
“Saturday evening did not unfold in my favor. My apologies to my family, friends, and supporters whom I may have disappointed. Acknowledgment to Oliveira for his performance. He showed complete professionalism, and I extend nothing but good wishes towards him.”
“There are no justifications offered from my end, nor will there ever be. I’ve encountered similar situations previously and understand the effort required to return to my desired position. Our journey is far from over. I’ll meet you all at the summit.”
A third encounter between Holloway and Oliveira could materialize, although Holloway will probably need to secure at least one victory to justify another opportunity against Oliveira. Holloway emerged victorious in their initial match, contested earlier in their featherweight careers, by first-round TKO.
Regarding prospective adversaries, enthusiasts of Holloway should monitor figures such as Dan Hooker, Benoit Saint-Denis, and Paddy Pimblett. Holloway is anticipated to return to the Octagon before the year concludes.
