An Injury Update on Aaron Rodgers From Mike Tomlin After Tuesday’s Practice originally appeared on The Spun.
It seems the Pittsburgh Steelers have no major cause for concern following a momentary injury issue for Aaron Rodgers.
A Steelers player accidentally trod on Rodgers during the Tuesday training session. Medical staff applied ice and a wrap to his right lower leg, which seemed to sustain a light abrasion, but head coach Mike Tomlin minimized any possible alarm.
“He was just stepped on,” Tomlin stated, as reported by Mike DeFabo of The Athletic. “It wasn’t anything of real significance. He finished his practice.”
Rodgers promptly went back to practice after receiving treatment for his leg. DeFabo noted Rodgers was moving with “some carefulness and stretching his leg between plays,” but he did resume his position with the offense’s primary team.
It’s also important to remember it wasn’t the left Achilles tendon he ruptured at the beginning of the 2023 season.
Everyone will continue to be particularly attentive when it involves a 41-year-old quarterback. Rodgers is joining the Steelers for what could be his 21st and potentially final season, following his two years with the New York Jets.

Rodgers made Pittsburgh wait before inking a one-year contract at the beginning of June. Tomlin recently acknowledged to former Steelers safety Ryan Clark that he “had a sense” prior to the NFL Draft, which might have impacted the team’s choice to wait until selecting Will Howard in the sixth round for a quarterback.
Tomlin detailed why his conversations with Rodgers instilled confidence in him regarding the quarterback’s desires to continue playing into 2025.
“His only focus is winning. He simply wants to enjoy himself playing,” Tomlin shared. “He expressed a desire to be involved in the developmental stages of younger players. Everything we discussed during our conversations in the spring, I’m now seeing come to life in this training camp environment. I took him at his word then, but it’s rewarding to see it unfold. That’s why I was so enthusiastic, and that’s why I felt at ease.”
The four-time MVP is replacing Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to spearhead a Steelers offense that hasn’t been ranked higher than 23rd in total yardage since 2018. Rodgers stands as one of numerous impactful offseason additions for a team hoping to break their eight-year absence from a playoff victory.
