Gunners boss Mikel Arteta provided a status report regarding Bukayo Saka after the wide attacker suffered an injury versus Bayern Munich.

The English international remained on the pitch for under ten minutes at the Allianz Arena during the midweek clash, sustaining an apparent quadriceps issue as he made a pass, which ruled him out for the remainder of Arsenal’s 2-2 tie against the German champions.

Following the contest, Arteta admitted that the problem “didn’t look promising” – and he provided additional details during his media session before the North London side face Everton at home tomorrow.

“He is scheduled for a second MRI later today since significant fluid buildup made it challenging to evaluate the severity of the damage,” Arteta explained regarding the set-back, as reported by HandOfArsenal.

“We should have greater clarity, likely by tomorrow,” he added. “It requires additional imaging and input from medical experts.”

During a media briefing largely focused on Saka, Arteta stated he felt no concern regarding the heavy workload the player has handled at only 25 years old, adding that the ideal reaction from the winger would be to report to training with his usual mindset.

After Saka was forced off against Bayern Munich this past Wednesday, Eberechi Eze seized the opportunity to shine, making his mark by scoring the first goal.

The shirt number 10 will probably be included in the starting lineup for this weekend’s league fixture, allowing Noni Madueke to return to his preferred role on the right flank – having featured on the left versus Bayern and subbed on for Eze on that same side away at Nottingham Forest recently.

Christos Tzolis, who arrived during the summer window from Club Brugge, had initially occupied the left-wing role for the Gunners before an injury suffered while on international duty interrupted his momentum.

The Gunners have received positive news regarding injuries in other areas of the squad.

Defensive pair Piero Hincapie and William Saliba are near fitness recoveries, while right-sided defenders Jurrien Timber and Ben White are fully fit to play this weekend.

The market value for Saka stands at €110 million according to Transfermarkt.
