The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia has revealed a cooperative venture with TRON: Ares, the eagerly awaited science fiction motion picture slated for theatrical release on October 9th.

The joint effort, disclosed during the live broadcast, will showcase TRON: Ares-inspired physical engagements at the MPL Malaysia Season 16 venue in Sri Putra Hall throughout Weeks three (September 26th to 28th) and four (October 3rd to 5th).

“TRON: Ares chronicles a remarkably advanced program’s expedition from the digital realm into the tangible world, signifying humanity’s initial interaction with beings of artificial intelligence,” stated Krystal Tan, Head of Business Development for Malaysia Esports at MOONTON.

“This convergence of universes is similarly represented in the advent of TRON: Ares within the MPL Malaysia sphere — the amalgamation of esports and the silver screen.”

The MPL Malaysia x TRON: Ares synergy will also pervade live transmissions, league-operated platforms, and private viewings of the movie.

MOONTON conveyed in a statement that further specifics concerning in-game or online initiatives will be shared via MPL Malaysia’s social media outlets imminently.

Tan further mentioned that the alliance could function as many moviegoers’ primary introduction to esports, bolstering MPL Malaysia’s strategies to evolve into an ‘elevated franchised league’ in the forthcoming season.

Earlier in the month, MOONTON communicated that the MPL Malaysia would transition to a franchise structure commencing in 2026. This designates it as the third franchised MLBB esports league subsequent to the Philippines and Indonesia.

MPL Malaysia Season 16 Progresses Into Week 3

The current Season 16 of the MPL Malaysia, marking the final iteration with the promotion/relegation configuration, is advancing into its third week.

Following two weeks, the newly established lineup of CG Esports presides at the apex of the standings with three triumphs, succeeded by Team Vamos in the runner-up position with a score of 3-1.

The frontrunners and reigning titleholders SRG OG occupy third place, although the team has contested only two matches thus far, securing victory in both.

Consequently, the most captivating showdown of the approaching week is poised to occur between CG Esports and SRG OG on September 28th. The outcome of the contest could establish the trajectory for the remainder of the season, with the seasoned roster of CG Esports anticipating a surprising upset.

The leading two teams from the MPL Malaysia Season 16 will secure qualification for the M7 World Championship.
